Lost Earring

With its
pearly gray
head
and that
shimmering
hickey of
light,
it looks
like a tadpole
lost, tiny
tail wriggling
in search
of its perch:
a lobe,
somewhere,
hanging
unadorned,
forlorn,
not
an ear
to it, but
a home.
